What material should riding jumpers be made of?

Merino wool is a great choice for riding jumpers, as it's warm, but also breathable and moisture wicking. However, merino wool items should only be washed at low temperatures with a wool wash programme. Riding sweatshirts made of polyester and polypropylene are very durable, keep their shape and are highly moisture-wicking. Equestrian jumpers made of cotton are especially suitable for summer. They absorb sweat well, but unlike jumpers made with other materials, can remain damp. This can be cooling in summer, but is unpleasant in winter. A fleece riding jacket is light, warm, washes well and dries quickly.
